Betty Young-Rau

Betty Young-Rau passed away November 27, 2024, a result of old age. She was born October 24, 1930 in Norfolk, Virginia to Dorris Holt Padon and Ethel Louise Padon.

She attended local schools in Norfolk through the tenth grade. Her family moved to southern California where she graduated high school in June 1948. She met and married Robert Eugene Young in 1951 and they had two children, Gerald Eugene and Cheryl Louise.

Second only to her family was her life-long love of horses. She began riding as a toddler and continued to ride the rest of her life. She competed in horse shows for many years and discovered her love of parade competition in 1972, becoming California's state-wide high point champion in 1975.

After the death of Robert in 1980 she married Wilmer "Smokey" Rau in 1989, moving to Fallon in 1992. She was predeceased by Robert, Cheryl Smith of Metter, GA and Gene Young of Fallon.

At her request no services will be held and her remains disposed of at a later date per her request to her family.
